# Quickstart

> Set up your bluSwap account, generate API credentials, and make your first authenticated request in under 10 minutes.

This quickstart walks you through account setup, API key generation, and your first bluSwap API call. By the end, you will have a working request against the sandbox environment.

**1. Create your bluSwap account**

Register at [finex.bluswap.co/register](https://finex.bluswap.co/register). Merchant activation typically completes within 24 to 48 hours.

**2. Generate API credentials**

From your dashboard, navigate to **Settings → API Keys** and create a new key pair. Store your `client_id` and `client_secret` securely.

**3. Configure your callback URL**

Add your webhook endpoint in **Settings → Webhooks** before processing live transactions. See [Webhooks](/docs/guides/webhooks-handling).

**4. Make your first request**

Test authentication by calling the balance endpoint:

```bash cURL theme={"dark"}
curl -X GET https://api.bluswap.co/payouts/balances \
  -H "X-Client-Id: your_client_id" \
  -H "X-Client-Secret: your_client_secret"
```

```javascript Node.js theme={"dark"}
const res = await fetch("https://api.bluswap.co/payouts/balances", {
  headers: {
    "X-Client-Id": process.env.BLUSWAP_CLIENT_ID,
    "X-Client-Secret": process.env.BLUSWAP_CLIENT_SECRET,
  },
});
console.log(await res.json());
```

```python Python theme={"dark"}
import os, requests
r = requests.get(
    "https://api.bluswap.co/payouts/balances",
    headers={
        "X-Client-Id": os.environ["BLUSWAP_CLIENT_ID"],
        "X-Client-Secret": os.environ["BLUSWAP_CLIENT_SECRET"],
    },
)
print(r.json())
```
