# Build with bluSwap

> bluSwap provides REST APIs for merchant payment collections and payouts. Learn how to integrate Collections and Payouts into your application.

bluSwap provides REST APIs for two core payment operations: collecting incoming payments from customers and sending funds out to beneficiaries. Use **Collections** to accept payments via UPI, cards, and net banking. Use **Payouts** to securely transfer funds through supported banking and payment channels, including IMPS, NEFT, RTGS, and UPI. Before you test any transactions, complete your authentication setup and configure your callback URLs.

## What you can build

**Collections** lets you accept incoming payments from customers. Once a transaction is initiated, you can check its status and manage refunds through our API suite.

**Payouts** lets you send funds to contacts (beneficiaries). You create contacts, retrieve the virtual accounts linked to your merchant profile, and then initiate outbound transfers across supported payment rails.

## Before you start

**1. Authenticate your requests**

Obtain your merchant `x-api-key` from the bluSwap dashboard and include it as a header on every API request. See [Authentication](/docs/authentication.md) for details.

**2. Configure callbacks**

Set up webhook URLs so bluSwap can notify your server when payment and payout events occur. Configure your [Payout webhook](/docs/payouts/webhook-configuration.md) before initiating live transactions.

**3. Choose your API product**

Decide whether you need Collections, Payouts, or both, then follow the relevant guide to make your first API call.
